Education paves a way to all other aspects of life, adding to the skill, broadening the mindset and building character. It gives opportunity to build capacity and knowledge in the rural populace people, helping them make informed decisions and is a means to end the perpetual cycle of poverty, misconception and social discrimination.
In recent years, the government has taken great initiative in building school along with providing education as free and compulsory right of children aged 6 to 14. The basic study material provided by the Government isn’t sufficient to last the whole academic year, along with the fact that almost all of these children are from low – income farmer families, spending that extra penny on school supplies, sadly isn’t a possibility.
Akshardhara fills this need by providing notebooks, stationaries along with school bangs, uniforms and other necessities to over 25 schools. Providing such amenities has a positive impact on children which in turn get them enthusiastic and eager about studying. Without the worry of buying school supplies at regular intervals, parents are also supporting their children to go to schools rather than just staying at home. In order to facilitate education among the rural crowd, Akshardhara has set up student scholarships, developing vocational & alternate education, opening them to many opportunities. Furthermore, Akshardhara has also introduced abacus classes for children in grade fifth and above.
